The Top Cats aus London werden unser Headliner am Samstag sein. Die All-Star-Band, 1998 vom Sänger, Entertainer und DJ Natty Bo gegründet, besteht aus einigen der erfahrensten Ska- und Reggae-Musiker der britischen Hauptstadt und gehört sicher zu den führenden Authentic Ska Acts weltweit und hat auf vielen der großen Festivals der Insel gespielt wie WOMAD, Glastonbury, Southbank Festival oder Notting Hill Carnival. Sie sind mit allen großen Namen des Ska aufgetreten: Prince Buster, Desmond Dekker, Owen Grey, Laurel Aitken, Roy Shirley, Dennis Alcapone, Derrick Morgan und vielen anderen.
Trotzdem konnte man sie bisher nur selten und schon gar nicht in der großen Besetzung in Deutschland erleben, was hauptsächlich an den vielen anderen Verpflichtungen der Musiker liegt. Vor allem der große Erfolg, der von Natty Bo eigentlich als Nebenprojekt gegründeten Ska Cubano trug dazu bei. Umso mehr freuen wir uns, dass die Top Cats nun endlich an einer neuen Veröffentlichung arbeiten und wir die Band für eine exklusive Show über den Kanal holen konnten – und zwar in der großen 10er Besetzung. Dabei werden übrigens auch ein paar alte Bekannte sein, denn Megumi trat 2014 mit den Trojans bei uns auf, Robin und Patrick 2015 mit den Soothsayers. Beim anschließenden Allniter wird Natty Bo als Gast-DJ Kostproben aus seiner exklusiven Sammlung auflegen, so dass es eine lange Nach werden wird!

The Top Cats consist of some of the most experienced ska and reggae musicians London has in store. Founded by the multi-talented singer, entertainer and DJ Natty Bo in 1998, they are one the leading authentic Jamaican ska bands on the planet and have played at numerous festivals, including Glastonbury, WOMAD, Southbank, Notting Hill Carnival, and toured all over Europe and Japan. The Top Cats have played with and backed Prince Buster, Desmond Dekker, Owen Grey, Laurel Aitken, Roy Shirley, Dennis Alcapone, Derrick Morgan and many more.
As the people in this all-star band are so busy with their many musical projects, they have very rarely played in Germany.

At the moment the Top Cats are working on brand new material, to be released soon, which they will present at the festival. They will headline the Saturday night.
Natty Bo is, of course, also a very sought-after DJ and a regular host at Gaz’ Rockin Blues in Soho. His excellent collection of records encompasses many different styles, from Rhythm and Blues to Calypso, Ska, Cuban Mambo, Rocksteady to Swing Jazz, so we are delighted that he has agreed to spin some of his records as a special guest DJ at the aftershow allniter on Saturday!
