Firehouse is one of the most active names on the Danish reggae scene. We have existed since 2005 when we began as three separate sounds who tried to start up a minor club in what is now no longer known as “Etnorama”. Even though the club night called ‘Firehouse’ was no succes we took the name for our sound. Our mission was simple and clear: to bring more dancehall to Copenhagen.

This led to a long series of parties, both out- and indoors, soundclashes against competing soundsystems, mixtapes, record releases as well as gigs international requests for shows. The production of our own music led us to a glorious victory in national radio contest Karrierekanonen i P3 og with the hit tune “Du Får Ik Punani” featuring Lady Smita.

Firehouse is currently one of the most serious Danish attempts at the concept of the original Jamaican soundsystem – a versatile entertainment machine, a group of reggae selectors, singers and deejays, lots of bass, smoke and dubplates and rare records.

On stage Firehouse is one of the only sounds in Denmark capable of delivering all aspects of the original Jamaican soundsystem session. We produce our own hardhitting dancehall – featuring a collective of different singers, like Søster Esther, Lady Smita, Troels Egern & Ham de kalder Joe, og Maffi Drengene.

We invest our hardearned money in dubplates with the ELlite of Jamaican dancehall music. We came second in the Danish Soundclash Championship, losing in a tight battle against friends and rivals Rootman Hifi. We still deliver scorching dubplates for the Danish massive. And we always bring the freshest dancehall when we come to nice up a session.

Firehouse also has a name beyond Denmark. Our mixtape series Mastermind Computer Style has received international acclaim – reaching as far as Germany, USA and Japan. Besides that we collaborate with German digital pioneers and record label Jahtari, who are presenting our own label called Maffi publishing artists such as Mikey Murka, Solo Banton, Soom T and others on the way. Look out for coming releases on the Maffi label.
