Kingston goes Cologne

Jamaika Jupp unites what according to most goes together anyway: lyrics in Kölsch – the Cologne dialect – with a Jamaican touch and d’r decken Trumm (which is not Patois but the Kölsch word for the big drum you can see in the picture).This works brilliantly and since 2007 creates the relaxed atmosphere that connects Kingston and Cologne.
 
Belafonte-Calypso in Cologne carnival style, “Lecker Mädche”  (Yummie girl) – a cover version of Cashs “Ring of Fire” in offbeat – just to give an idea of what Jupp has to offer. Themes come straight from Cologne culture and everyday life like “Ming Kejelklub” (My bowling club), “KVB” (Cologne’s public transport company) and “Dem Schmitz sing Frau” (The wife of Mr. Schmitz).
 
You’ll be tempted to wet your throat at our Bar and sing along with Jupp and his jolly boys.
